GreenHopper 3.0 release notes
The GreenHopper Team is proud to present one of the biggest release of GreenHopper. Introducing major enhancements in multiple views and the most requested feature from day one, the "Quick Card Creation".

Quick card creation
EUREKA! You can now create your issues or sub-tasks directly from your Planning or TaskBoard. Based on your issue type templates you will be able to quickly create your own issues without loosing your board focus. All permissions configured in JIRA are fully respected.

You can also add sub-tasks directly from your issues from any issue views.

List view in the TaskBoard
The list view is now available in the TaskBoard!!!
One of the nicest views in GreenHopper and also one of the most useful. It offers a more compact, concise, convivial and clear view of your ongoing progress of your versions. Enjoy!

Planning board column boxes revamped
In order to take advantage of the Done definition introduced in GreenHopper 2.5 we have enhanced:

  • The Progress Bar
    1. The In Progress ratio was added and is represented in yellow
    2. Clicking on a color state will bring you the issue navigator pre-filled with the issues in that state.
  • The Statistics
    1. Number of Issues In Progress
    2. Number of Issues To Do

Detailed card revisited
One of the major challenge in GreenHopper is to display as much information as possible in a very limited space without overcharging the issue views available. The detailed card was getting to crowdy therefore we have decided to regroup the less used actions inside a convivial menu drop down. We took this opportunity to revamp the look and feel of the card.

Quicker and better access of the user preferences
To help users keep the focus on the displayed board, we have moved the user preferences directly into the GreenHopper boards. Therefore, every logged-in user will be able to change his preferences without leaving his current page.

Smarter flagging
GreenHopper is pushing the flagging notification a little bit further in the version 3.0.
Now, if you flag a sub-task GreenHopper will automatically flag the parent as well for a better visibility of the notification. Also if you unflag the parent all flagged sub-tasks will also be unflagged. A very handy behavior if you use the flagging feature to notify your impediments for instance.

Automatic synchronization of the fixVersions/components
To avoid unsynchronization between JIRA and the hierarchies that you have configured in GreenHopper (see Master option) we have added 2 available listeners that can be registered in your JIRA - Administration - System - Listeners.
These listeners will catch all Issue updates/creations/moves and ensure that your FixVersion/Component hierarchies are respected.

See how to register a listener into JIRA: Registering a Listener

  • The FixVersions Synchronizer
    com.pyxis.greenhopper.jira.listeners.FixVersionSyncher
  • The Component Synchronizer
    com.pyxis.greenhopper.jira.listeners.ComponentSyncher

Expand/Collapse sub-tasks support in list view
Again to help in the visibility of the displayed issues we have added the possibility to expand or collapse the sub-tasks of a parent in the list view. If this feature is popular we will implement it on the other issue views as well in a future release.

Warning if the "Natural" sorting is used in the context
The Natural sort was introduced in the first version of GreenHopper. It was offering a simple way to regroup the parents with their sub-tasks. It had one major problem; performance. This sorting is very heavy and can be very slow when working with a significant number of issues. Therefore, we have introduced the Ranking field a much much faster and powerful way to sort your issues. We have maintained the natural sort for trial purposes. Users must avoid this "sorter" and use the Ranking field in a production environment. We have then added a warning to notify users that their contexts by using the Natural sort can result in a bad waiting experience.

And Much More

  1. FireFox 3.0 support - Although we dont recommend upgrading to FireFox 3.0 yet due to some issues with the stability of the browser itself, GreenHopper is 100% functional on FireFox 3.0
  2. Support of wide screen - You can now set the number of issues to display per row through your board's user preferences
  3. Applicable context selection consistent with JIRA
  4. TaskBoard space optimized
