GreenHopper 3.2 release notes
Introducing the sharable contexts!
|
Sharable Contexts
It is now possible to share contexts in GreenHopper.
By a simple click project administrators can publish their contexts to be accessible for the rest of the project members.
These contexts can be based on custom filters and highlights or saved JIRA filters (no need to be shared filters).
They can only be edited by their owners and be unshared by all project administrators.

Contexts Management Revamped
One of the main goals in GreenHopper is to "Keep Things Simple".
We have to agree with most users, Contexts were far from being simple...
So we have reviewed, redesigned, revamped the contexts management in GreenHopper 3.2 hopping to make it somewhat more intuitive.
The improvements:
- The Contexts Selection list is now a simple drop down
- The "On the fly" context. (previously named "custom")
This context will help you build filters and highlights quickly.
Also an easy way to build new contexts since you can view the results before saving it.
- The "Default" context.
Can only be changed by the project administrators and is shared to all project members.
It will be the context applied by default for all new users of the project and anonymous users in the case of public projects.
- All logged in users can still create|edit|delete their own contexts.

Full Screen Mode
GreenHopper 3.2 now support the full screen mode.
Combined with the browser full screen mode (F11) you will have a much better global view with more data displayed for your projects.
Very handy for the TaskBoard in the stand up meetings!

Smarter Optimize Ranking
The optimizer got smarter! It will now fix most inconcistancies like misplaced sub-tasks.
These could emerged from the not well surported features of JIRA like the cloning and converting

Page Overview Revamped
The page overviews worked pretty well but since all issues were looking the same it was a bit hard to hotspot an issue without reading them all.
To increase the user efficiency we have added the issue color based on the issue types.

Resource Consumption Significantly Reduced
In huge JIRA instances, GreenHopper was asking for a lot of resources to compute the Planning Board causing some servers to go "out of memory".
Very embarassing when for instance this was happening on "jira.atlassian.com". We had no choice then to refactor all our calls to limit GreenHopper to what was really needed to compute the Planning Board. Took us quite some time to acheive this but the results was really worth it.
