Configuration

In every project that can use GreenHopper, the project administrators will be able to configure GreenHopper to actually answer most of the project needs.

These settings are divided in 3 groups:

  1. The GENERAL configuration
    • General Setup
    • Ranking Fields
    • Sorting Fields
    • Flagging Field
  2. Tne CARD TEMAPLATES
  3. The TASK BOARD MAPPING

GENERAL

This section will act as your control panel for your project's GrenHopper settings.

The General setup

  • Need Scheduling Permission: You can override the fix version editing permission (Resolve Issues) with the JIRA Schedule issues permission. The user will then need the Schedule Issues permission to drag and drop card into version boxes. This also applies to being able to prioritize issues.
  • Card Creation: You can lock the creation of cards via GreenHopper by unchecking this setting.
  • Issue Link Type: This is where you will tell the hierarchy plugin which link type to use.
  • Use Time Aggregation: You can ask GreenHopper to not aggregate the time tracking fields between the parents and their subs by unchecking this setting.
  • Use JIRA IFrame: You can avoid using the GreenHopper's modal screens by unchecking this setting.
  • Use JIRA look and feel: You can reuse your JIRA color theme instead of GreenHoppers

The Ranking field

You can register as many ranking as you want (if of course, you find an added value to it). Registering a ranking field will put it available into your Sort by drop down of your contexts. This will allow you to see the issues ordered and of course prioritize them by drag and drop. If your ranking field seems to behave in a chaotic way, the Optimize link will repair all the misranked issues and should restabilize your ranking field.
Only you GreenHopper Ranking custom fields will be available in this drop down.

The Sorted fields

You can add multiple fields to be available in your Sort by drop down of your contexts. You will then be able to sort your issues with these new criteria.
Only the Sortable custom fields will be available in this drop down.

The Flagging field

This is actually the field that we use in our projects to notify any impediments on issues. But it can be used to actually flag an issue with a designated value.
Only Multi Select & Multi Checkbox custom fields will be available in this drop down.

CARD TEMAPLATES

There are 3 ways of seeing your issues in GreenHopper.
Each of these views can be configured for every issue type of your project.
E.g: You can have a different template between your Bugs and your Tasks.

  • For the list view simply select the fields.
  • For the detailed card simply drag and drop the fields into the card - The position of the fields will be respected
  • For the summary simply check the box in the card
  • You can also set a "Corner value", this one will be reflected in all issue views.

Note that when creating a new issue the fields in the detailed card template will be in the card creation pane.
Since GreenHopper respects the JIRA Field configuration schemes some fields may not be visible in your cards. GreenHopper will simply replace the field by a blank line.
Since GreenHopper respects the JIRA Permission schemes some fields may not be editable in your cards.

Most of the JIRA built-in custom fields are supported and can be included in your templates.
Here is the complete list of the supported custom fields:

  • Date Time
  • Date Picker
  • Number Field - Also used for the Statistics
  • Multi Select - Also used for the Flagging field
  • Select List
  • Text Field (<255 characters)
  • Free Text Field (unlimited)
  • Group Picker
  • User Picker
  • Multi User Picker

TASK BOARD MAPPING

For each column of your TaskBoard you can associate multiple JIRA Statuses AND multiple JIRA Resolutions. Based on your workflow and your TaskBoard mapping, GreenHopper will present to the users the available workflow actions when dragging a card from a column to another. If the workflow screen of your workflow step asks for the "Resolution", users will also be able to select the Resolution to set the issue in.

You can of course add your own columns via the Add a column link. Then by drag and drop place the column at its position in the TaskBoard.

Important: The TaskBoard column "DONE" is the owner of your Project's "Done Definition". GreenHopper will rely on this definition to burn your values in the charts and to swap issues on version releases.

Warning: Playing with the resolutions can be very hazardous. If you are not comfortable with the JIRA Workflows and Workflow screens, We advise you to leave the resolution settings to "ANY".
