Hello again.

I've recently made some changes to our Jira configuration (yes I know why'd I do that...) so that an Issue is a User Story, and each User Story has its Story Tasks as sub tasks. That allowed us to estimate points on both the Story itself and its sub tasks, plus it lets the developers see what exactly needs to be done before the User Story is moved to QA.

When in GreenHopper, I can see the User Story card, I see the points assigned to the user story, I can click to see the sub tasks in the user story. However I can only move a whole user story from To Do to In Progress, and that's not helpful to my devs. I was asked if it was possible to see both User Stories AND Sub tasks in the task board so that they can move issues through the process one by one.

The second issue here is that if you have user stories stub tasks that have points, and sub task work is getting done, the reporting is totally out of whack. Therefore, Velocity templates show 13 points for 2 user stories, but completely ignore the rest of the points assigned to the sub tasks, and the fact that there are quite a few sub tasks that have been resolved and should be considered in the velocity.

The last part is that since those sub tasks have points, when planning and looking at the sprint threshold for points allowed, the subtasks are completely ignored, and hence that makes that feature useless.

Is all this impossible, or is there some kind of configuration I missed?

if the later, do you have recommendations on how we might approach working that way with greenhopper?

Thanks
